Permanent Makeup

Permanent Makeup is also called Permanent Cosmetic.  This service is used by women, and at times men, to add color to the skin.  Common areas of treatment are the Eyebrows, Eyeliner and Lips.

This service is provided at Omaha Med Spa by Vicki Billington.  Vicki is licensed in both Nebraska and Iowa as a Permanent Color Technician.  She has serviced hundreds of satisfied clients.

Question:  Why have Permanent Makeup?  Answer:  Eyebrows may thin out with aging, overplucking, thyroid conditions and cancer treatments.  By adding color to the eyebrow, the impression of hair is restored.  If your eyebrow is of normal fullness and shape, permanent makeup saves you time and money.  Wake up and go to bed with a fresh look.  Eyeliner saves time and money as well.  If you have lost some of your hand dexterity due to stroke, tremor or visual difficulties, permanent color ensures an attractive look every day!  As we age, the margin of the lips (the vermillion border) may lose definition.  Permanent makeup redefines the margin for crisp lip detail.  Color to the full lip (vermillion) gives the appearance of full time lip color.   If you have an active outdoor lifestyle, you will love permanent color added to the brows, eyelids and lips.  You can be active with walking, swimming, golfing, skiing and other sports without concern that cosmetics will “run” or be removed from sweating and water exposure.

Question:  Is this safe?   Answer:  With Vicki you are in safe hands.  She is trained and qualified in providing this service.  Vicki uses the “Soft-Tap” method.  Soft-Tap is hand controlled, not machine driven.  The pigment applicator is Sterile and Used Only once before disposal.

Question:  What are the side effects?  Answer:  As with many aesthetic services to the face (including Botox and Dermal Fillers) mild to moderate discomfort is to be expected.  Discomfort is controlled with the use of topical numbing creams and gels that contain anaesthetic, to ensure the most comfortable experience possible.  There can be no such thing as a totally pain-free service, and advertisements to the contrary are misleading.

Question:  Are there any medical conditions that prevent me from having this service?  Answer:  If you have a severely impaired immune system, or uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, then any service to the skin may raise your risk of skin infection.  Do not have this service performed if you have active open skin sores or infection in the area.  Most people carry the virus that causes cold sores, and lip treatments may cause a flareup of cold sores to occur.  To prevent this from happening, Dr. Abbott may prescribe an anti-viral drug that you should obtain from your pharmacy before the day of permanent makeup application to the lips.

Question:  Can I still apply makeup?  Answer:  Yes, most certainly.  Permanent makeup is not intended to totally replace cosmetics.  Makeup may be added, when desired, to the eyebrows, eyelids, and lips for additional color and effect.

Question:  How long will my Permanent Makeup last?  Answer:  The darker colors will last longer.  Lighter colors are naturally more vulnerable to fading from sun exposure, swimming, and natural breakdown of pigment.  After a few years, it is normal to want to attend for repeat sessions of permanent makeup to brighten or change the color.

Question:  I am thinking of plumping up my lips with a filler such as Restylane or Juvederm, but I also want permanent makeup.  Is it possible to have both services performed?  Answer:  Yes!  Do the dermal filler first.  The doctor will enhance the volume of your lips, and help redefine the vermillion border.  The permanent color technician will then follow the new lip lines and add the needed amount of color to the body or vermillion of the lips.
